Create a little piece of Christmas magic in clay with your own hand-built festive fireplace. Join Melissa in the studio for a full day of making, with plenty of time to build, sculpt, add all those tiny details and then paint and decorate your finished creation. Starting from slabs of clay, Melissa will guide you through constructing your miniature fireplace using slab building, joining, sculpting and texturing techniques. From there, the design is completely up to you. Create a traditional Christmas hearth with stockings, holly, garlands and presents. Build a woodland fireplace covered in leaves, branches, mushrooms and tiny forest treasures. Give it a little witchy whimsy with stars, moons, a cauldron, potion bottles and magical details. Or keep things simple and earthy with botanical textures and natural forms. You might add: A stone, brick or textured fireplace surround Stockings personalised with family initials Holly, foliage, garlands or Christmas trees Tiny presents, books, candles or decorations Mushrooms, leaves, branches and woodland creatures Stars, moons and celestial details A cauldron, broom or other witchy additions A little sign, words or message meaningful to you Your own family Christmas traditions and symbols.
